Proverbs 3:5  –Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding

Many know the importance of trusting The Lord with all of your heart; that significance cannot be overstated. However, the second part of this verse is often overlooked, “lean not on your own understanding.” I think it’s safe to say that if we are desperately trying to understand a situation, or trying so hard to make sense of something in our finite, human minds, that we may be denying this part of the verse. We may, in fact, be distrusting The Lord in our hearts. I’m guilty of this myself but I am trying hard to limit my need to understand everything, and just fully trust in and rely upon God.

Proverbs 3:6

Romans 10:17

Colossians 3:22

1 Peter 5:8

Proverbs 1:7

Ecclesiastes 12:13

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Matthew 6:33

Philippians 4:7 – And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The week we memorized this verse in 2012, my Great Grandmother passed away. Because this verse is regarding “the Peace of God, which surpasses our understanding”, it was instrumental for my family as we prayed for everyone grieving the loss.
